Introduction to Sewing
Projects:  Pillow Case & Apron
Instructor:  Judy Butler & Pauline Bramer

For ages 9  - 13 years old
Student must bring a lunch and drinks/snacks will be provided.
$125.00 covers apron pattern and instructions, drinks/snacks
Student must bring sewing machine in good working condition, sewing foot, bobbins, Size 70 or 80 needles
Basic sewing notions: sharp scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc.
Fabric for pillow case project:  3/4 yard of fabric, 1/4 yard coordinating fabric, white cotton thread
Fabric for apron project:  cotton small print fabric, no stripes or plaids, coordinated cotton thread.
Chest size:  22 – 25, Hip size:  24 – 26:  3/4 yard
Chest size:  26 - 27, Hip size:  27 – 28:  7/8 yard
Chest size:  32 - 34, Hip size:  34 – 36:  1-1/8 yard
First day:  Student will be become familiar with the sewing machine parts.  Time is allowed to make sure machine is working properly.  Each student will learn to set up thread, wind bobbin, and practice sewing basic straight seam allowance.
Cut fabric for pillow case and sew. Each student, with supervision, will use a hot iron for pressing seams. 
Second day:  Continue with pillow case, if needed.  Lesson on stabilizer, cut out and sew on applique on trim of pillow case.  Cut out pattern for apron.
Third day:  Continue with apron project and sew.
Fourth day:  Finish apron.
