Judy Neimeyer Paper Piecing
Instructor:  Debbie Dison

Otter Creek Retreat will be hosting “Paper Piecing Quilting Retreat” and is open to the public.  This class will teach you how to use Judy Neimeyer/Quiltworx Paper Piecing Technique.  Foundation Paper Piecing is a complete set of easily trained skills that creates an overall process that can be taught over several days.

Paper piecing is used to create intricate designs that could not otherwise be readily sewn, due to the fragility, small size, or geometric shapes of the fabric pieces being sewn. There will be several patterns to choose from with various prices. (See pricing and sizes below.)

If you want to choose a different pattern, please choose pattern from the following website:  http://www.quiltworx.com/patterns/

Instructor Bio
Debbie Dison

Debbie began sewing as a child and made most of her clothes for high school and college. She learned to knit while living in Germany. Upon returning to the US, Debbie learned how to spin yarn and weave. Of course the next step was to get a flock of merino sheep! For over 20 years Debbie raised and showed prize winning sheep and fleeces.

In 2014, her mother in-law passed away and Debbie inherited several Bernina sewing machines, parts to 15 quilts ( with no directions) and tons of fabric and supplies. She then embarked on her quilting career.  A lifelong sewer, she transitioned to a quilter.  In 2016. Debbie took the "Glacier Star" class from a certified instructor.  Her next Quiltworx quilt was Paradise in Blooms which she made on her own with a little phone coaching.  Her first Judy Neimeyer quilt was " Glacier Star".  That started her down the path of Mariner’s Compass, Mooncatcher, and many other Judy designs. Her " Diamond Wedding Ring " quilt won 3rd place at the 2019 Kentucky State Fair.

When Debbie is not teaching, she is a broker, realtor in Louisville, KY.
She has taught Judy classes in Louisville and Lexington, KY.  She also has plans to teach in Ohio and Pennsylvania.  Debbie loves to travel and is willing to teach wherever someone wants to learn.
In the past, Debbie has taught chemistry, swimming, real estate, knitting, fiber dyeing, and fiber processing.
